Parents Nursery School

Our philosophy

At Parents Nursery School (PNS), we believe that families thrive when children are given ample space to explore, pretend, and learn through play while parents are actively involved in their child’s education. We also believe that parents become more effective and connected when given the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of early childhood development through parent education, informal observation, and community exchange. PNS provides an environment where families work together in the true cooperative spirit to create a positive learning environment for children and their parents.

Play-based learning

PNS embraces the joyful and spontaneous benefits children receive from exploring and experimenting in a safe and nurturing environment. We believe that this natural and important activity called “play” is what enhances cognitive, social, and emotional development in children.

The merits of play as a vehicle for imagination, invention, social interaction, emotional regulation, and language development are limitless. Our teachers create an environment where children have many choices and opportunities for creating, communicating, and discovering through play, and for following their emerging interests.

So come and play…with us!

A great place for your child….

At PNS, you will find children busy digging cities in the sandbox, climbing our play structures, feeding chickens, building with blocks, creating colorful pieces of art, singing and dancing, dressing up and playing make-believe, or deep in a story with a teacher or helping parent. Our preschool day incorporates a balance of different experiences: self-initiated and guided; group and individual; active and quiet; fine and gross-motor.

… and a great place for you

You will also see parents making macaroni sculptures, playing tricycle traffic cop, or building unit block highways. Parents Nursery School creates a place where families spend time together. It is this time we spend together that allows us to create the support structure and lasting friendships that we cherish, not only for our children but for us as well.
